What We Do
Examples of projects -
Community support for new Rossendale Hospital project
Between March and July 2006 the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust (ELHT)
carried out a public consultation on healthcare. REAL was
asked by the Rossendale Community Network (RCN), ELHT and Rossendale
Borough Council to facilitate a wider discussion on health and
well-being in Rossendale to complement the formal consultation.
From this sprang a vision of integrated health and social care
based on a “hub and spoke” model which was picked up
by the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust as the basis of a bid
for funding for new community health facilities.
REAL has been an active part of the project team acting in a dual
capacity. As the operational arm of the RCN REAL represents the
community, but as a social enterprise infrastructure body and a
health care provider in its own right through its Holistic Resources
arm, REAL represents the wider third sector who are potential providers
of services in the new faciltity .
