Elizabeth Taylor -
Senior Psychotherapist/Team leader – REAL Ltd
|
Liz is a former Research
Associate with a background in psychology, gastroenterolgy
and palliative care. She has wide experience of counselling,
psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and teaching and has published
research in the field. Liz looks after Holistic Resources
(therapy services).
She is widowed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren and greatly enjoys her family
and friends. She is passionate about her garden and helps herself to any spare
land in the village where she lives, including walls and roadsides. Liz was
delighted to acquire an empty shop window when she moved to REAL in
April 2006 ‘ideal for growing tomatoes, peppers and flowers!’ Unfortunately
it was south facing and too hot for plants and her plan hit the dust. Liz enjoys
walking and forgetting to practise the piano. Her aim in life is to become ‘not
quite’ self-sufficient when she retires. Meanwhile she really enjoys
her work, especially working with patients.

Anne Holgate - Accounting Technician
|
In early 2008 REAL’s
Community Business and Accountancy Services arm was launched
and Anne joined to take on the role of Accouting Technician.
A part qualified Accountant with an HNC Business and Finance qualification, Anne
has gained a wide range of experience in industry, financial services and, latterly,
working for the local government’s Neighbourhood Renewal Fund Project in
Preston.
Ann adds “having enjoyed both private and public sector experience I am
looking forward to the third sector challenges. I feel that REAL’s
Business and Accountancy service is unique. We are aware that organisations and
sole entrepreneurs have to be able to manage many divers responsibilities and
this could be quite a daunting prospect in the early days.
REAL offers practical assistance, support
and empathy by working together with these social enterprises,
voluntary, community and faith sectors in the Rossendale
Valley, with the aim of fulfilling their ambitions.
I personally consider myself very privileged to be working with a forward thinking
and enthusiastic group of people within REAL and am looking
forward to meeting more people and their projects”.
Anne and her husband live in Blackburn. She works part time and her hobbies include
cycling, walking and playing bridge. |

| Ray
Walkden – Caretaker – REAL Ltd |
Ray
was born in Burnley. His first job was a motor mechanic,
although this was not to be
his passion in life. Ray became
a fireman and served with the Burnley fire station for
10 years. He moved to the coast to the quiet village of
Knott-end-on-Sea. Ray worked in engineering for 2 years
in Garstang making oxen drawn ploughs for a third world
country, Ethiopia in Africa. Then Ray started his own pet
shop business for a further 10 years selling amongst other
pets, tarantulas! Rays hobbies included sailing to the
Isle of Man many times in his own yacht. Then when he had
his land legs he rode this beloved Palamino horse with
western saddle and bridle (that was when he was a cowboy)
but he’s now an American Indian.
Ray moved back to East Lancashire where he lives in Waterfoot.
His ambition is to live to 104 years of age, but says “that
is no consolation when he reaches 103”
