Set up in 1993 the business was originally known as East Lancashire Integrated Health Care (ELIHC) and was based at Rossendale Hospice. ELIHC aimed to increase the availability of psychological support in health care across Lancashire. The ELIHC service became recognised nationally and internationally under the generic name of Holistic Resources.

With a background in research of Irritable Bowel Syndrome Liz Taylor came to Rossendale Hospice to develop psychotherapeutic interventions to help patients cope with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The intervention comprised of cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy in a clinical package to meet individual needs and become known as the ‘Hypno-Chemo Programme’ subsequently renamed ‘Psychological Support Services for Cancer Care’.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
We deliver one-to-one therapy sessions to East Lancashire PCT and Blackburn with Darwen & East Lancashire Hospitals Trust through Consultant referrals and for private patients across East Lancashire and the North West.

Hypno Chemo Programme
The organisation received a £500,000 Lottery grant to train healthcare professionals to deliver the programme across 36 centres in the UK. This was successfully completed in 2006 and the service is continuing in many of the centres as mainstream provision.
